Most magicians get their start with the gift of a magic kit
I'm Ryan, the magician you see pictured above. I started learning magic when I received the Klutz Book of Magic as a kid. It came with a few props to learn the tricks inside, and that very day I performed my first mini magic show for my aunts, uncles, and cousins on the couch.
As I meet magicians from around the world, most of us have a very similar story. That silly little magic set sparks a lifelong interest, a hobby for most, and for some a career!
I want to help people spark their own interest in magic, so I've created Trick Support — a place where beginners can get live help from a real magician when they get stuck learning tricks from their kits, or need a boost of enthusiasm.
Ryan works as a professional magician in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has taught magic classes for kids and adults, written a book for fellow magicians, and has been a featured lecturer for the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Magic Circle.
Where to find a magic set
This site is not about selling magic sets. You can find them almost everywhere!
- If your town is lucky enough to have a local magic shop, they will be your best support for a magic hobby.
- Magic kits made by either Fantasma Magic (USA) or Marvin's Magic (UK) are great choices.
- Second-hand magic kits are often found at thrift shops and yard sales from magicians who gave up on their dreams. (beware of missing pieces)
The truth is 90% of all magic kits include the same basic tricks. Any one has the potential to kick-off a lifelong hobby!

Each call is 20 minutes long and completely free. There's no catch, and no up-sells. I just want to use some of my free time to help make some new magicians, and support the future of magic. Session availability is limited. The open spots on my calendar are all listed at the booking link.
This is open to magicians of all ages. I encourage parents to attend the lesson with their kids so you can be the in-house magic coach.
